Nabi opened sports journalists’ wall of fame in Kristiine sports bar

Today Heiki Nabi, who has twice won the title of the World Champion, opened the wall of fame with the names of the best sports journalists of the year in the OlyBet sports bar in Kristiine Keskus.

A plaque was installed on the wall of the OlyBet sports bar in Kristiine Keskus with the names of the best sports journalists of 2013 announced by the Estonian Sports Press Association at the award ceremony on Wednesday, January 22.

According to the idea developed by the Estonian Sports Press Association and OlyBet the names of the best sports journalists of the year will be added to the plaque annually in recognition of their contribution to the development and to boosting the popularity of Estonian sports.

The first names engraved on the plaque were Anu Säärits, Andres Vaher, Tarmo Tiisler, Priit Pullerits, Jaan Martinson and Heiko Kruusi. Heiki Nabi took part in the ceremony to congratulate the best sports journalists and to open the wall of fame in their honour. He stated that the journalists covering sports events should definitely also be applauded along with outstanding Estonian athletes.

“The role of journalists is highly appreciated in sports and we are honoured to add the names of these highly esteemed press representatives to the names of the top Estonian athletes already decorating the walls of the sports bar,” said Mr. Kaido Ulejev, the manager of Olybet, at the opening of the wall of fame.

According to Ms. Kristi Kirsberg, the chair of the Estonian Sports Press Association, the contributions to the sports press competition had outstandingly good quality this year. “I believe the new possibility of recording the names of the best Estonian sports journalists on this wall of fame will motivate sports journalists to elevate their professional capabilities to an even higher lever,” Kristi Kirsberg added.
